A comment on John Oakes' book "The Christian Story"
See below for a recommendation we recently received for The Christian Story: Finding the Church in Church History.
I just finished reading The Christian Story, and I enjoyed it so much I thought I would let you know. I don’t typically contact authors (I think I’ve done that once), but this seemed the right time to make an exception. It was such a good book, so well written, and you just made the history come alive. You hit just the right balance with presenting the history, asking some relevant questions, and presenting a few conclusions of your own. That’s the kind of thing that makes history fun to read. It inspired me to sit down and write out a couple of pages of conclusions myself, at the end – and that’s something I don’t typically do, either. I just loved it, and I wish there were more relevant, readable church histories out there. Can’t wait for the second volume! Thanks so much for all the work you’ve done in apologetics and linking science and faith as well – you have helped me through some past times of questioning in my faith. Love the work you do!
