Question:

Can you please refute the objections to Paul as an apostle that are listen here: https://www.JESUSwordsonly.com/component/content/article/1-jwo/727-proofs-the-12-apostles-rejected-paul.html

Answer:

The claims made at this web site should not be taken seriously. No serious scholar would give the slightest support to this nonsense.  The author clearly has a claim he wants to “prove” and he will use any evidence, no matter how thin and no matter how dishonestly applied to “prove” his point.  Let me put it this way.  He gives no quotes whatsoever, from any New Testament writer or from any early Christian in which that person says that Paul or his writings are to be rejected.  He quotes Augustine, but in his quote, Paul is not mentioned.  He quotes Jude, but in that quote Paul is not mentioned.  He mentions James, but James does not mention Paul.  He tells us that Peter said Paul’s writings are at times hard to understand (all of us would agree with Peter!), but he forgets to mention that Peter calls Paul’s writing “Scripture,” which completely and utterly disproves every claim he makes in this article!  He implies that Paul believed in the faith alone doctrine, but Paul definitely did not believe in the faith alone doctrine (although Luther did, but do not blame Paul for Martin Luther).  I could give dozens of quotes from Paul which prove that he definitely did not accept the false idea of faith-alone salvation (Gal 5:19-21, Gal 5:6, etc…).  There is no contradiction between Paul and James, although the two do deal with different kinds of issues.

This guy talks about the Ebionites, claiming that the Ebionites were the church in Jerusalem.  This claim is totally unfounded and is not supported by a single fact of history, yet the guy makes this claim. Again, no reputable scholar would agree with him. He is apparently hoping that his readers do not bother to check out the facts.  The Ebionites were a very small faction of supposed Christians. I say “supposed” because this group rejected the deity of Christ.  Certainly, the church in Jerusalem did not reject the deity of Christ!!! This is really quite absurd.  There is evidence that there was a small group of Ebionites in Pella, but as far as I know, there were no Ebionites in Jerusalem. Or if there were, there is no direct evidence of this fact.

That this guy has the gall to claim that the Jerusalem church was Ebionite is sufficient for me to not really need to read anything else in his article, to be honest.  I could go on, continuing through the other baseless claims he makes about Paul’s interactions with the apostles and the like, but I think this is sufficient for now.  If there is one or two of the claims he makes in the article you want to ask me about specifically, please feel free to send a follow-up question.
