Question:

As stated in the Koran 3:183, the Israelites even killed the prophets who presented a fiery sign from heaven that consumed their sacrificial offerings, but why does the Bible not mention this happening?

Answer:

This is an easy question.  The Bible does not mention this because it did not happen.  The Qur’an is the work of a false prophet who made up things out of his own head.  If he got something right that was not included in the Old Testament, then it was by sheer luck.  The only prophet we know of who did something like this was Elijah, and Elijah was taken to heaven directly. He was not killed by the Israelites.   This is recorded in 1 Kings, which is an accurate record of the events in the time of Elijah and his successors.  This is clear evidence that the Qur’an is NOT the inspired Word of God.  As I have said numerous times, the idea that the Jews who wrote within at most a few generations of the actual events would get it wrong, but that a non-Jew, who knew very little of Jewish history, writing more than two thousand years after the events would get it right is untenable.  It is absurd to try to take something from the Qur’an to disprove far more reliable historical records in the Old Testament.  The exact opposite is what we ought to do, and this is common sense.
Muslim apologists might complain: “But the Qur’an is inspired by God, so it has the more reliable historical accounts.”  But this would be complete circular reasoning.  The question is which account is more reliable and accurate to actual events.  The more reliable and accurate account is the one which is also more likely to be inspired by God.  So, we should begin with the question of which is more reliable to test inspiration, and not use an unfounded claim of inspiration to prove the Old Testament is not reliable, and is therefore not inspired.  Besides, Muhammad himself said that the Jewish Bible is from God in the Qur’an!  We cannot have it both ways.  Either Muhammad is wrong that the Bible is from God, or he is wrong that the Israelites killed Elijah.
Here are a couple of passages from the Qur’an in which Muhammad himself tells his people that the Hebrew Bible is accurate and reliable:

Quran 3:48 – 50

48. “And Allah will teach him the Book and Wisdom the Law and the Gospel.

49. “And (appoint him) an Apostle to the Children of Israel (with this message):

I have come to you with a sign from your Lord …

50. “(I have come to you) to attest the Law which was before me and to make

lawful to you part of what was (before) forbidden to you; I have come to you

with a Sign from your Lord.  So fear Allah and obey me.

Quran 3:48 – 50

48.  He [Allah] will instruct him [Jesus] in the Scriptures and in wisdom, in the Torah and in the Gospel

49.  and send him forth as an apostle to the Israelites.  He will say:  “I bring you a sign from your Lord”. …

50.  “I come to confirm the Torah which preceded me and to make lawful to you some of the things you are forbidden.  I bring you a sign from your Lord:  therefore fear God and obey me.”

Quran 5:46, 47

And in their footsteps We sent Jesus the son of Mary confirming the law that had come before him: We sent him the Gospel: therein was guidance and light and confirmation of the law that had come before him: a guidance and an admonition to those who fear Allah.

47. Let the people of the Gospel Judge by what Allah has revealed therein. If any do fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah has revealed they are (no better than) those who rebel.

Quran 5:46, 47

After them we sent forth Jesus, the son of Mary, confirming the Torah already revealed, and gave him the Gospel, in which there is guidance and light, corroborating what as revealed before it in the torah, a guide and admonition to the righteous.

47.  Therefore let those who follow the Gospel judge according to what God has revealed therein.  Evil-doers are those that do not judge according to God’s revelations.
