Question:
The Koran said 1,400 years ago that God warned the Israelites that he would raise against them those who would afflict them till the day of Resurrection. Whatever is happening today in the Middle East, does it not provide evidence of the truth of this statement? How do Christians see this?
Answer:
If I ask my friend to empty the trash, and then he empties the trash, does this make me a prophet? The simple answer is no. If Muhammad told his followers to attack and defeat the enemies of Islam, and then they go out and do this, is this a prophecy? The answer, likewise, is no. When Muslims attempt to wipe Israel off the face of the map, this is the result of two principal causes, one of which is that Muhammad commanded that they do this. The two principle causes of the problems in the Middle East (as I see it!) are: 1. Muhammad’s call to Jihad against those who do not submit the will to Allah–such as the Jews in Israel. and 2. The injustice of the Jewish state of Israel stealing land from the local Palestinians, creating millions of displaced refugees, and refusing to give them a homeland in Palestine. In no sense is this a fulfillment of a prophecy. By the way, what sura are you quoting? I want to give a more specific response to your question, but if you do not supply the actual passage in the Koran, it is hard for me to give an answer I feel really great about. Please respond, supplying the sura you are referring to in which Allah warned the Israelites that he would raise against them those who would afflict them.
