Question:
Qadianis (Ahmedis) believes that Jesus escaped persecution and went to Kashmir where he lived to old age. What are your thoughts on this?
Answer:
People believe all kinds of things which are patently untrue, and this is one of them. There is literally NO evidence that Jesus ever set foot in the subcontinent of India, which is where Kashmir is. One thing I can say with 100% certainty is that he did not “escape persecution,” given that he was executed by the Romans in AD 30 in Jerusalem, as reported by multiple sources, including non-Christian ones. Jesus was raised in a relatively poor family in Galilee, and there is almost no chance that he ever left the immediate area of Palestine, never mind having traveled over 3000 miles to Kashmir.
This amounts to wishful thinking on the part of Hindus. Hindus are pantheists, which means that they believe that “god” pervades the universe, and is not a person. Jesus would not have changed from the monotheism of Judaism to pantheism, but even if we could believe the fantastically unlikely possibility that he would have rejected monotheism, the claim that he traveled to Kashmir after “escaping” persecution is simply not believable at all. You can safely ignore this outrageous claim.
