Question:  What is the evidence that the very early church believed in the bodily resurrection of Christ?

Answer:

I get a lot of questions from visitors to the website in which they ask me to respond to skeptics who deny the resurrection of Christ.  These deniers have a right to say what they say and to argue how they argue, but in all cases they begin by an assumption that the very early church did not believe in the bodily resurrection of Christ.  This is a requirement for them to ignore the biblical statements about the resurrection and to get around the facts about the empty tomb and the means of execution of Jesus Christ.

Dr. Gary Habermas has given a lecture on this topic, focusing in on what may be the chief weakness in arguments about the resurrection, which is the presupposition that the church’s belief on the resurrection evolved over time.  Habermass shows beyond all reasonable doubt that this simply IS NOT TRUE.  For this reason, I am including here a link to a youtube of his amazing lecture on the question of when the church came to believe in the bodily resurrection of Jesus.  Please listen to this video.
