Will I need to give up astrology and "readings" if I become a Christian?
I think you need to ask yourself some careful questions. What is true? There
are many belief systems, many religions, many philosophies out there. How do
you know what is true? I believe the Bible shows incontrovertible (how’s that
for a big word!) proof that it is from God.? I believe this based on the evidence
such as the prophecies of the Messiah which Jesus fulfilled, based on scientific
evidence and so much more. If you need more on this, you can find it at this
web site or by buying my book Reasons for Belief at this website.? There are
dozens of articles in the article section of this site devoted to this evidence.
If the Bible is from God, then the claims it makes are true and the commands
it makes on your life are serious business. If the Bible is true, then the practice
of paganism is definitely sinful and should be avoided like the plague! Paganism,
which is witchcraft, is specifically listed as a sin in Galatians 5:20 and other
places.
You should ask yourself what is the evidence that the pagan rituals you have
been messing around with are what God would want you to do. Are they supported
by specific evidence which shows that is what God wants you to do? Is there
anything like the messianic prophecies proving the commands and practices of paganism
are God’s will? I think the answer to these questions is very obvious.
I believe you need to be open minded. You should search for the truth with a
free mind. However, when you stumble upon the truth, as I believe you have in
the Bible, you need to cling on to it and never let go. God bless your efforts.
