Question:

Do you know of any scientific facts that are in the Bible that we only found out about in recent centuries?

Answer:

The Bible is not a science book and should not be read as a science book.   It does not have "scientific statements" per se.  Nevertheless, there are plenty of statements in the Bible which can be thought of as having scientific implications.  I believe that this is not the strongest evidence for the inspiration of the Bible, but it definitely does serve as important evidence.  I have written on this extensively.  What you need to do is pick up a copy of my book which is written on this topic.  It is
"Is There a God?" (available at
www.ipibooks.com).   Let me give you just a hint.   The scriptures say that the universe was created "the seen from the unseen." (Hebrews 11:2-3), in agreement with the 20th century discovery that the universe was created "ex nihilo."   The scriptures advise a number of things consistent with medical science which seem to be beyond any conceivable ancient medical knowledge (see my book "Is There a God" for a lot of examples and the power point at the web site "Science and God" for a few examples).   Also, the creation account in Genesis is in agreement with all known scientific information, if we assume that the days are not literal, but represent aeons of time over which God did his work.  This claim is supported in the same book I already mentioned.

In my opinion, it is the lack of clear scientific mistakes in the scripture which argues for its inspiration more than "scientific fact."  By the way, as a matter of fine point, there are no such things as "scientific facts."   There is scientific evidence and there are scientific models and theories which are more or less consistent with that evidence, but science does not have to do with facts.  This may be a technicality which you do not care about, but I thought I would throw that in there for what it is worth.
