How do we know there is a God (please answer for a 10 year old).
Question:,How do we know there is a God (please answer for a 10 year old).,Answer:,We know that there is a God because of his wonderful and marvelous creation. Science may be able to describe the creation, but it can never EXPLAIN the creation. The variety, the organization and the beauty of the galaxies, stars, planets, plants and animals, cells, molecules, atoms and electrons all work together in a way which can only be explained because of an intelligent and loving Creator.,Another reason we know that there is a God is because of the existence of love. No scientist can ever explain why we want to give and to receive love. The Bible explains this to us. It says that God is love. We were made in God’s image, which means that we want to give and to receive love. Science cannot explain this. Psychologists cannot explain this.,Another reason we know that there is a God is because of the Bible. Although ten year olds may not fully understand the Bible, they can understand that the Old Testament told us for over one thousand years that a man called the Messiah was going to come to offer salvation to all people. This is proved by Isaiah 53 and by Psalm 22:16-18, Zechariah 9:9, Zechariah 11:10-13, Micah 5:2, Isaiah 9:1-7 and many more. The only way to explain that the Bible foretold Jesus and that he later came and did all these things is that the Bible is written under the influence of someone much more powerful that any human being.,The last reason I will mention (though many more could be listed, see my book Reasons for Belief www.ipibooks.com) is the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. The fact is that Jesus was crucified by the Romans. Even the Jews admit this. The other fact is that his tomb was empty and he was seen by over 500 eye witnesses. The fact that Jesus was killed and raised from the dead on the third day is proof that there is a God.,Thanks for asking such a good question. There is a ton more material at my web site if you look around.,John Oakes, PhD
