Of all the questions I have received at this web site, this is the first one I am going to have to say I do not know the answer. You ask a very good question which is very difficult to know how to answer. Because you ask the question, I assume you already see the […]
We do not know when the flood happened, but presumably it was at least several thousand years ago. I can only assume that human beings evolved the different “racial” characteristics over the past several thousand years. In a gene pool with a fairly broad genetic diversity, the physical characteristics which lead to the greatest survival […]
I have been studying many of your articles. They make one think. Therefore questions come up. In reading Genesis it appears that the earth was formed before God said “Let there be light.” Genesis 1:3 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over […]
You have rephrased my questions. Although it seems to be the same to ask “how much is 2 plus 2?” or “what is the result of the sum of the numeral 2 to another numeral 2?”, the approach taken to respond tends to required further analysis than just a simple response. Your response to my […]
I cannot understand why there is the perception of God as a distant being, external to us. A ruler with a human personality and weaknesses, like a puppet master who seems to be not more than a magical-religious being, created by human mind to justify our existence and everything that surround us, instead of preferring […]
I’m doing a brief study on the foundation of Christianity for our Bible study group and have been browsing your website. Am I correct in that in accordance with Jewish burial customs Jesus’ body would have been wrapped similar to that of an Egyptian mummy? If so would that not be further evidence against the […]
I have encountered a “theology” on creation (Gen 1:1 and Gen 1:2) that the Bible gives us a hint where Dinosaurs thrived here on earth. Yes, science claims that they really lived millions of years ago. A “teacher” taught that in between these verses, there is a very long time span. Verse 1 states that […]
I’ve had heard many people claim that the Apostles would not have let themselves be put to death for a lie, and this should be taken into consideration when studying the evidence for Jesus, but what evidence outside of the scriptures do we have that the Apostles were actually put to death? I respect your […]
1) The natural amino acids are L and D, and in proteins are only L. So in any hypothetical primordial soup, surely there would have been an equal proportion of both. The problem for the materialist is to answer how did the first proteins become just L amino acids (since racemic proteins can’t exist). If […]
I have already answered a couple of very similar question. Let me make a single statement and refer you to the questions and answers provided below. When God created the universe, he also created time. God exists outside of time, and therefore the question “What did God do before he created the universe?” does not […]
How celibacy became common and why it became required are two very different things. In the third and fourth centuries it became common in primitive Christianity for men to choose asceticism as a way of expressing their devotion to God. Asceticism is a general term to describe the philosophy that one becomes close to God […]
In Gen 16:10-12 and 17:20 God promised that He would make descendant of Ishmael to be too numerous to count and that they would be a great nation. Was it already part of God’s plan to make the Islam religion to be the second biggest religion believe by people in the world? Referring to Gen […]
I have been asked a lot of questions over the years, but believe it or not, no one has ever asked me this question! Without context, I am not sure exactly what question you are asking. I would assume you are asking one of the following two questions: 1) What is the philosophical/theological definition of […]
Yes, this is essentially correct. The Bible describes the peoples who came to be known as the Arabs as having been descended from Ishmael. As Muhammad, the founder and chief prophet of Islam is Arab, he would be a direct descendent of Ishmael. This is why historians of religion would claim that Judaism, Christianity and […]
This is one of those unanswerable questions. I myself struggled over this question at earlier points in my life. Philosophers have certainly struggled with this question as well. Although I cannot give a totally satisfactory answer to your question, God himself provided a hint of an answer in Exodus 3:13,14. When Moses asked God what […]
This is an excellent question. I believe I have already answered it pretty thoroughly, so I refer you to one of the articles already at this web site, “The Ultimate Miracle.” This article goes into great detail describing all the alternative explanations of the evidence about what happened to Jesus, showing that the only even […]
I was walking to Sainsbury’s with a Muslim friend and we stumbled upon the conversation of religion, through a discussion of Israel and recent events, My friend has aroused some very good questions and I have realized that I know little about Islam and other religions. She said that the Bible was changed to suit […]
Emperor Constantine of Rome was the first to write a law of worship on Sunday. Why do so many religions go to church on Sunday when God’s day of worship is the Sabbath day?(Isaiah 66. 22-23.) It may be true that Constantine wrote some sort of Sunday worship law. To be honest, I am not […]
Was the Holy Spirit already in existence during the Old Testament or only after the New Testament? What was Holy Spirit doing in the beginning? The Holy Spirit, being God, existed before the creation of the world. He was not created, but has always existed, just like the Father and the Son. As proof of […]
I have a question about your website article on the NT canon. You said that the Muratorian Fragment is the earliest list of NT letters, but that it did not contain Hebrews, James or 1 John. Since Origen was also skeptical about these, should we be? Is there any proof to believe that these are […]
Where was Islam originate? Islam originated in what is now known as Saudi Arabia . It was founded by an Arab named Muhammad. In the year AD 610, at the age of 40, Muhammad claims to have been visited by the angel Gabriel in a vision. Muhammad claims that over the course of the next […]
I recently watched a tv show about Moses, and it was discussing the Red Sea Crossing. They claimed that Moses never led the children of Israel through the “Red Sea,” but through an unknown sea. They also said the original Hebrew for Red Sea was Yam Suph which meant Sea of Reeds, and the “Red […]
Is the Old Testament plagiarized from the Zoroastrian scriptures? Quite simply, no. Many wild theories are thrown about by theologians looking for something to put into their ThD theses, and this is one of these ideas. The Zend Avesta is the principle scripture of Zoroastrianism, the pseudo-monotheistic sun-worshiping religion which began in Persia in about […]
Some argue that Noah’s flood was only local. What’s your view on this? In my experience, those who have proposed a local flood have done so in order to provide some sort of reasonable natural explanation of the flood, making it more easily acceptable to skeptics of the Bible flood story. The problem with these […]
What evidence do we have that points to the fact that the gospels were written by the apostles themselves? The first one who believed that they were written by them was Irenaius in 180 AD. It is impossible to prove absolutely that the apostles wrote the letters of the New Testament. Actually, you should be […]
I have heard that the word ‘made’ in Genesis, actually means appointed in Hebrew not made (to make). Does this means that God could have created, appointed, Adam from an already upright walking species and formed it with dust into what we now know as Humans? My Hebrew dictionary defines the word asa as to […]
[Is there any historical evidence outside of the Bible, that the curtain in the temple tore when Jesus died?] I am sorry to say that as far as I know, there is no outside reference to this event.? One could assume logically that the Jews would not have published this embarrassing occurrence in any of […]
How is it possible for people who are holding on to an other religion to come to salvation in Jesus. I have a lot of friends who are zealous Muslims. How can I help them ? And what about all the millions of Muslims around the world, how will they get an honest chance ? […]
I know that the God of the Bible is all-knowing but doesn’t it seem that in Genesis 2 God made Adam and did not know that Adam wouldn’t find a companion? Why didn’t he make them at the same time if he know that no other animal would compare to Adam? God did know that […]
I was thinking about the first century church and I was wondering why God didn’t let the great commission be accomplished in the first century. He knew that a lot of people would not hear the message due to false teachings, traditions, other religions, illiteracy and because in some places in the world Jesus wasn’t […]
Many scholars have used the writings of Josephus the Jew as historical evidence for Jesus. But there are a lot of critics who say that the writings of Josephus didn’t even exist until the sixth century. In other words Josephus couldn’t have written it. What do you know about this? I have not personally heard […]
I’ve heard a lot of people say that Islam is a religion of war instead of peace, because of Mohammed’s actions, history, references in the Koran, the terrorists etc. But the God of the Bible murdered and let his people slaughter many peoples who were not living by his standards. How can I explain that […]
Why did God create the other planets(Mars, Mercury, etc.)? Also, if stars are meant to give us “light” what about other stellar phenomena such as nebulae and black holes? In the final analysis I cannot speak for God about why he did what he did. However there seems to be a perfectly natural explanation for […]
I was wondering how to refute the teachings of the Jehovah Witnesses? I have a sister who is very involved in this religion and I don’t know how to reach her without her getting defensive. I want to be able to help her be discerning when it comes to committing herself to something so life […]
What about the people who speak with the dead spirits. Is it true? Are there really people who can heal thru the spirits? What about that people who can predict the future? My wife’s grandmother was able to cure with the help of the spirit of some dead scientists, e.g. Robert Hook, and we know […]
Where did Cain’s wife come from in Genesis 4? This is a fairly common question. I have only seen only one reasonable explanation which does not require bending the biblical text. That is to assume that Adam and Eve had a great number of children and that Cain married one of them. Clearly if there […]
Where did God come from? You ask what is really more a question for the philosopher. This is a question which philosophers have pondered from the time belief in God or even in “gods” has existed. In other words, you ask a question which has been asked since there were people. Let me give the […]
If Adam and Eve were created first, who did their children marry? If one is to take the account in Genesis chapter one and two at face value, then one must assume that Adam and Eve’s children did indeed marry one another. Some have speculated that at this point in the history of humanity, there […]
The Qur’an (or Koran), which actually mentions Jesus Christ far more than it does Mohammed, teaches the Virgin Birth of Christ, as well as his Second Coming, but not his crucifixion. (Muslim apologists call it ‘the crucifiction.’) They consider Jesus to have been one of the greatest prophets of all time, though Mohammed, according to […]
I have heard that the Quran has been changed and corrected a few times. Could you please shed more light on this? i.e. where? when? by whom? Although I have read the entire Quran, as well as a number of books on Islam, I do not feel I am an expert on this subject. Yes, […]
